North Campus, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, January 7th, 2022: On the morning of January 7th, the delegation of the Consulate General of Iran in Guangzhou visited GDUFS. SHI Youqi, President of GDUFS, met the guests in the Administrative Building. They held talks on exchanging views on talent cultivation relating to the study of Persian and promoting continued, friendly cooperation.
SHI greeted the delegation, headed by consul general Darvishi, and introduced information about GDUFS. He pointed out that GDUFS is a high-level university with distinct international features. GDUFS has established cooperation with many foreign universities and institutions, contributing to great cooperation in higher education between Belt and Road countries and within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Iran is an important country to cooperate with under the initiative of “Belt and Road”. GDUFS attaches great importance to the communication and cooperation with Iran, as well as signing the cooperation framework agreement with the University of Isfahan and sending students to study there. SHI stressed that GDUFS puts high value on the inter-disciplinary talent cultivation of minor languages. The university’s Persian major that has been certified as a national first-class major carried out with a bilingual and global-quality composite teaching style, which creates strong career prospects for students. He hopes that Persian talent cultivation can make a great contribution towards enhancing the communication and collaboration of culture and economy between China and Iran.
Darvishi was highly appreciative of the achievements of GDUFS. He indicated that, as the association between Iran and China had a long history, he hoped to strengthen interconnection in academic research, cultural communication and teacher and student exchange. At the end, both sides said a new year’s blessing to each other.
