On the afternoon of June 16th, Beh Ching Chye, Consul General of Malaysia in Guangzhou, visited GDUFS. Jiao Fangtai, Vice President of GDUFS, met the guests at the VIP Reception Hall of the Administration Building of the North Campus. The two sides held a talk on the development of the Malay language program, the cultivating of foreign language talents, cooperation and exchanges.

Jiao Fangtai welcomed the delegation and introduced the basic information of GDUFS to them. He pointed out that over the years, GDUFS has developed with international characteristics and been committed to cultivating international talents. At present, 28 foreign language programs have been established, making GDUFS the university with the greatest variety of foreign language programs in South China. The Malay language program of GDUFS has been officially certified by the Ministry of Education of Malaysia, making GDUFS one of the first overseas educational organizations for the Malay language recognized by the Malaysian government. The program adopts the “3.5+0.5” teaching mode. Students in this program have made excellent performance in various professional competitions. At present, GDUFS has signed framework cooperation agreements with many famous universities in Malaysia. As a Standing Committee member of the Asia University Presidents Forum(AUPF), which GDUFS spearheaded, the University Malaysia Perlis has made outstanding contributions to the holding of the forum over the years. The educational cooperation between China and Malaysia shows bright prospect. GDUFS is willing to maintain a good relationship with the Consulate General of Malaysia in Guangzhou and jointly expand exchanges and cooperation in culture and education with Malaysian educational institutions.

Beh Ching Chye said that Malaysia and China have enjoyed a long history of friendship. Malaysia attaches great importance to its relationship with China and both sides have maintained high-quality cooperation in various fields. The Ministry of Higher Education in Malaysia also highly value the development of higher education and international cooperation and exchanges. GDUFS is an important base for Malay language teaching and research. He thanked GDUFS for its active effort in cultivating Malay language students. In the future, they will continue to support GDUFS in developing the Malay language program and jointly promote economic and trade development and cultural exchanges between the two countries based on language education.
